Terminals by cruise line

Most cruises out of Copenhagen leave from Ocean Quay, a pier with three terminals in Nordhavn, north of the centre. Holland America, Norwegian, Princess and Royal Caribbean all name it. The port sets the berth for each sailing. Smaller ships sometimes use Langelinie or Nordre Toldbod, nearer town. Check the terminal on your cruise documents.

Hotels the night before

Fly in the day before so a late flight can't cost you the ship. Ocean Quay sits out on a pier, so no hotel is a short walk away. We found no Copenhagen hotel with its own cruise shuttle. Search by distance from the terminals, and use the bus or a taxi on the morning.

Copenhagen cruise parking

The car park at Ocean Quay sits by the ships, but it opens only from mid-April to the end of September. You can't reserve a space. Pay by card at the machine or in a parking app. Outside the season, use the year-round garage at Orientkaj metro and take the bus to the terminals.

Prices are each operator's maximum for 24 hours, in Danish kroner as published.

Quick answers

How we checked these answers

Every answer is built from facts we checked against the sources below and cross-checked with recent port guides. Where sources disagreed, the answer says so instead of guessing a number.

Terminals & cruise lines

Where do cruise ships dock in Copenhagen?

Most cruises from Copenhagen leave from Ocean Quay (Oceankaj), a three-terminal pier at Oceanvej 13 in Nordhavn, about 8 km north of the centre. Princess says its ships typically dock there. Norwegian names Terminal 1 as its usual spot, and Royal Caribbean and Holland America list Ocean Quay too. Copenhagen Malmö Port also has berths at Langelinie and Nordre Toldbod, so confirm yours on your cruise documents. See the terminal.

What cruise lines depart from Copenhagen?

Princess, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean and Holland America all publish departure details for Copenhagen, and all four point to Ocean Quay in Nordhavn. Other lines call here too, but we only list a line once its own page names the terminal. Copenhagen Malmö Port decides each ship's berth, so the terminal on your cruise documents is the one to trust. See the terminal.

Can you walk from the cruise terminal into Copenhagen?

Not easily from Ocean Quay: Princess puts it about 8 km (5 miles) from Copenhagen's centre, a 25 to 30 minute ride. Bus 25 or 164 runs from the terminals to Orientkaj metro, every 10 to 20 minutes on ship days, and the M4 reaches Central Station in about 30 minutes in all. A taxi to Central Station is about DKK 212 by day, per the tourism board. See getting there.

Hotels

Are there hotels near the Copenhagen cruise port with a shuttle?

We found no Copenhagen hotel that runs its own cruise shuttle to Ocean Quay, and none is within a short walk: the closest hotels in Nordhavn are more than 0.75 mi away. Princess and Holland America sell hotel packages that include the ride to the ship. Otherwise, stay anywhere handy for the metro and take the M4 to Orientkaj, then bus 25 or 164. Search hotels near the terminals.

Parking

How much is parking at the Copenhagen cruise port?

Parking at Copenhagen's Ocean Quay costs DKK 24.00 an hour by day and DKK 14.00 an hour at night, capped at DKK 170 per 24 hours at By & Havn's P-plads Oceanvej. Parking apps may add a fee. The P-hus Orient Plads garage at Orientkaj metro has the same cap of DKK 170 a day, with the first 30 minutes free. Compare the lots.

Where do you park for a cruise in Copenhagen?

For Ocean Quay, park at P-plads Oceanvej, By & Havn's 242-space lot by the terminals. It's open only from mid-April to the end of September, and you can't reserve. Year-round, P-hus Orient Plads is a garage at Orientkaj metro; buses 25 and 164 run from there to the terminals. Langelinie and Nordre Toldbod have no long-term parking. See the parking table.

Getting there

How far is Copenhagen airport from the cruise port?

How do I get from Copenhagen airport to the cruise port?

From Copenhagen Airport, take the M2 metro to Kongens Nytorv, the M4 to Orientkaj, then bus 25 or 164 to Ocean Quay: about 40 minutes on a DKK 30 three-zone ticket, per the tourism board. A taxi takes about as long. Princess and Holland America also sell airport transfers, and Princess meets guests after baggage claim even if they didn't book flights with it. See getting there.

Embarkation day

What time should I arrive at the Copenhagen cruise terminal?

Arrive at Copenhagen's Ocean Quay at the time your cruise line gives you. Princess uses Arrival Groups picked in its app; Norwegian asks you not to come more than an hour before your check-in time; Royal Caribbean wants you in the slot you chose in its app; Holland America says no earlier than 20 minutes before your assigned time. Allow for the bus from Orientkaj, which runs every 10 to 20 minutes. See the terminal.

Is there luggage storage at the Copenhagen cruise port?

No: Holland America says there is no luggage storage at the pier at Ocean Quay in Copenhagen. Plan to hand your bags over when you check in. Princess lets guests who arrive before their Arrival Group drop off luggage, but they must come back at their window to enter the terminal. See the terminal.

Where do cruises from Copenhagen go?

Princess's 7-Day Baltic Treasures calls at Warnemünde, Bornholm, Gdynia, Klaipėda, Visby and Tallinn before ending in Helsinki.
