Norfolk has one cruise terminal, so there is no pier to pick. Carnival is the line that sails from it. Other ships stop here on port calls. Confirm your sailing on your cruise documents.

Sleep downtown the night before and you can walk to the ship in the morning. All three hotels here are within a ten-minute walk of the terminal, so none runs a shuttle. "Check rates" opens the hotel on Booking.com. "Hotel website" opens its own page.

    Quick answers

    How we checked these answers

Every answer is built from facts we checked against the sources below and cross-checked with recent port guides. Where sources disagreed, the answer says so instead of guessing a number.

    Terminals & cruise lines

Where is the Norfolk cruise terminal?

Every Norfolk sailing leaves from the Half Moone Cruise and Celebration Center at 1 Waterside Drive, Norfolk, VA 23510, beside Nauticus in downtown Norfolk. Carnival is the line that sails from it, so there is no terminal to choose between. You can get there by car, light rail, Amtrak or shuttle bus. See the terminal.

What cruise lines sail from Norfolk, VA?

Carnival. Carnival Sunshine runs the 2026 sailings from October 3 to December 26, and Carnival Freedom takes over from May 29, 2027. Other ships, including Norwegian Pearl on weekly 2027 visits from April to August, stop in Norfolk on port calls rather than starting cruises here. See the terminal.

Where do cruises go from Norfolk?

Carnival Sunshine's 2026 Norfolk sailings are 6-day Bermuda, 8-day Canada, 6-day Bahamas and 8-day Eastern Caribbean cruises. Carnival Freedom's itineraries from May 2027 are not listed yet, so check your own sailing. See the ports.

    Hotels

Which hotels near the Norfolk cruise port have a shuttle or cruise parking?

We could not confirm a hotel shuttle, but three downtown hotels are a walk from the terminal: the Hilton Norfolk The Main (0.25 miles), the Norfolk Waterside Marriott (0.38 miles) and the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside (0.46 miles). The Sheraton's own page sells a Stay Before or After Cruise package with breakfast for two, free Wi-Fi and a $15 valet parking discount. The Marriott lists valet parking at $33 a day and no cruise rate, so ask about parking when you book. See the hotels.

Can I walk from my hotel to the Norfolk cruise terminal?

Yes, from the downtown hotels we checked. Measured on OpenStreetMap's walking directions, the Hilton Norfolk The Main is a 5-minute walk, the Norfolk Waterside Marriott 8 minutes and the Sheraton Norfolk Waterside 10 minutes. See the hotels.

    Parking

How much is parking at the Norfolk cruise terminal?

The city's Cedar Grove lot charges $15 per day for a passenger vehicle, including vans up to 15 passengers. You pay when you drive in, by cash or credit card, or prepay online at the same rate. Compare the parking.

Where do you park for a cruise out of Norfolk?

Most cruisers park at Cedar Grove, the city's official cruise lot at 1000 Monticello Avenue, about 1.5 miles from the terminal. A free shuttle runs to the terminal curb, and the lot is fenced and watched around the clock. We could not confirm a private lot with a terminal shuttle, so none is listed. See the parking.

What time does Cedar Grove open and when does the shuttle run?

On cruise days Cedar Grove opens at 9:30 a.m. and the free shuttle starts about 9:45 a.m. The final shuttle is at 2:30 p.m. Your luggage is checked in at the lot and goes straight to the ship. An ADA shuttle with a lift is available. See the parking.

Can I reserve or prepay for Norfolk cruise parking?

You can prepay but not reserve a space. The city's parking page links to an online prepay at the same $15 per day: you pick your departure day, pay by card and show the emailed QR code at the lot entrance. Reserved spaces are not offered. See the parking.

    Getting there

How far is the Norfolk cruise port from the airport?

Norfolk International Airport (ORF) is about 7.5 miles from the cruise terminal by road, roughly a 17-minute drive without traffic. See getting there.

Can I get an Uber or taxi from the airport to the Norfolk cruise port?

Yes. Taxis, Uber and Lyft drop off and pick up on Waterside Drive just past the terminal, in front of Town Point Park, following the drop-off signs. We found no published fare. Personal cars and vans can't use the bus and shuttle lane in front of the terminal. See getting there.

Can I rent a car at the Norfolk cruise terminal?

No. There is no rental car agency at the terminal, and Visit Norfolk says rental cars are available at the airport. See getting there.

    Embarkation day

What time should I arrive at the Norfolk cruise terminal?

Norfolk's cruise team advises not arriving before your scheduled check-in time, which your cruise line assigns. We could not confirm Carnival's own window, so check your Carnival booking. If you park at Cedar Grove, the lot opens at 9:30 a.m. on cruise days. See the parking.

Is there luggage storage near the Norfolk cruise terminal?

Nauticus, next to the terminal, stores bags for $10 per bag: Monday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. Cruise passengers also get buy-one-get-one-free Nauticus admission. See the parking.
