Terminals by cruise line

Honolulu has one main cruise terminal: Pier 2, on Ala Moana Boulevard at Channel Street. Norwegian's Pride of America sails from it every Saturday. Princess, Royal Caribbean and Celebrity start select cruises here too. On busy days a second ship docks by Aloha Tower, so check the pier on your cruise documents.

Fly in the day before so a late flight can't cost you the ship. We found no Honolulu hotel with a cruise shuttle or parking package, and none within an easy walk of Pier 2. Compare hotels by distance below. Waikīkī is about 3 miles away, a short taxi or shuttle ride.

Honolulu cruise parking

The port runs no cruise parking, and Norwegian and Royal Caribbean list none. Aloha Tower Marketplace, half a mile along the waterfront from Pier 2, parks cruise guests overnight if you call ahead. A taxi or rideshare from your hotel or the airport avoids the question.

The marketplace doesn't publish an overnight rate. Call (808) 544-1458 for it.

Quick answers

How we checked these answers

Every answer is built from facts we checked against the sources below and cross-checked with recent port guides. Where sources disagreed, the answer says so instead of guessing a number.

Terminals & cruise lines

Where is the Pier 2 cruise terminal in Honolulu?

Cruises from Honolulu usually start at the Pier 2 Cruise Terminal, 521 Ala Moana Blvd, where Channel Street meets the harbor. Norwegian's Pride of America sails from it every Saturday, and Princess says its ships typically dock there too. Royal Caribbean warns that maps can show a different Pier 2 about 4 miles away, so search "Pier 2 Cruise Ship Terminal" and check your cruise documents. See the terminal.

What cruise lines sail from Honolulu?

Norwegian is the line that sails from Honolulu every week: Pride of America leaves each Saturday evening for 7 nights around Maui, the Big Island and Kauai. Norwegian Spirit also sails from here to Tahiti. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity run one-way cruises from Honolulu to Vancouver, Sydney or Brisbane, and Princess starts select cruises here. See where they go.

Is the Aloha Tower a cruise terminal?

Yes, Pier 11 beside Aloha Tower is Honolulu's alternate cruise terminal, but most cruises start at Pier 2. The state's Harbors Division schedule uses Pier 11 for a second ship on busy days, mostly ships calling mid-cruise. The two piers are about half a mile apart along the waterfront. The Aloha Tower itself is closed indefinitely, HDOT says. See the terminal.

How far is Waikiki from the Honolulu cruise port?

Waikīkī Beach is about 3 miles from the Honolulu cruise piers, roughly 15 minutes by taxi or rideshare, so it isn't a practical walk with bags. Roberts Hawaii runs a shared shuttle between Waikīkī hotels and the cruise port for $29 per person each way. HDOT also lists TheBus, Biki bikeshare and TheCab taxis for getting around from the harbor.

Hotels

Are there hotels near the Honolulu cruise port with a shuttle?

No Honolulu hotel we checked publishes its own shuttle to the cruise port or a park-and-cruise package. From Waikīkī, the usual ways in are a taxi, a rideshare or the Roberts Hawaii pier shuttle, which costs $29 per person from Waikīkī hotels to the port. Compare hotels near Pier 2.

Can I walk to the Honolulu cruise terminal from a downtown hotel?

Yes, but it's a longer walk than it looks: the nearest hotels, on Bishop Street downtown, are about 0.85 miles from Honolulu's Pier 2 terminal, around 18 minutes on foot. They're about 0.4 miles from Pier 11 by Aloha Tower, which a second ship uses on busy days. With luggage, a short taxi ride is easier. See hotels.

Parking

How much is parking at the Honolulu cruise port?

The Honolulu cruise port publishes no parking rate because it runs no cruise parking; Norwegian and Royal Caribbean list none either. Aloha Tower Marketplace parks cruise guests overnight if you call (808) 544-1458, but doesn't publish that rate. Its day rate is $3 per 30 minutes, up to $30. See parking.

Where do you park for a cruise out of Honolulu?

There's no official cruise parking in Honolulu, so the one confirmed option is Aloha Tower Marketplace's gated lot, which takes cruise guests overnight by arrangement. Call (808) 544-1458 before you go. The lot is beside Pier 11, about half a mile along the waterfront from Pier 2, and is open 6 a.m. to 2 a.m. See parking.

Getting there

How far is the cruise port from the Honolulu airport?

Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) is the closest airport, about 6 miles from Honolulu's Pier 2 cruise terminal, roughly a 20-minute drive depending on traffic, Princess says. Taxis wait on the center median outside baggage claim. Norwegian puts the taxi fare at approximately $15–20 and says rates can change. See getting there.

Is there a shuttle from the Honolulu airport to the cruise port?

Yes, Roberts Hawaii runs a shared shuttle from the Honolulu airport to the cruise port for $29 per person, and $26 back to the airport, with two bags included. It runs at set times, so book ahead. Princess sells its own airport-to-ship transfer. TheBus W Line runs downtown too, but allows only one medium suitcase and one carry-on. See getting there.

Embarkation day

What time should I arrive at the Honolulu cruise terminal?

Arrive at the Honolulu cruise terminal at the check-in time your line gives you. Norwegian puts it on your eDocs and asks you not to come more than an hour early; Pride of America is in port from 6:30 a.m. on Saturdays. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity use the slot you pick at online check-in, and Princess uses Arrival Groups in its app. See parking.
