IbizaCruise Port Guide

Ships tie up at Botafoc, two miles round the harbour from the old town, and most don't arrive until midday. So the day is about a quick ride to Dalt Vila and an afternoon or evening that fits.

Quick answers

Facts last checked .

How we checked these answers

Every answer is built from facts we checked against the sources below and cross-checked with recent port guides. Where sources disagreed, the answer says so instead of guessing a number.

Getting ashore

Where do cruise ships dock in Ibiza?

Cruise ships in Ibiza dock in the Botafoc area of the port, on the pontoons, the Botafoc sea wall dock or the dock next to it, according to Ports de Balears; the port's other docks are for ferries. The lines seen calling are MSC, Norwegian, Princess, Oceania, Seabourn and Explora Journeys. Which berth each ship gets isn't published, so check your ship's daily program.

Is it worth getting off the ship in Ibiza?

Yes, but the interesting part is in town, not at the pier. Botafoc is a modern cruise and yacht pier with no shops or cafés described in any guide, and Ibiza Town's old town, Dalt Vila, is about 2 miles away by the PortBus, a ship shuttle or a short taxi ride. Once there you can wander its hilly cobbled streets, and Talamanca beach is the closest beach to the ship.

Can you walk from the Ibiza cruise port to the old town?

You can, but most people don't: Botafoc is about 2 miles (3 km) from Dalt Vila along the harbour road, a walk of 30 to 40 minutes with little shade. The PortBus, many cruise-line shuttles and taxis do the trip in about 10 to 15 minutes, and Ports de Balears lists the port bus, urban bus and taxis as the links from the terminal.

How can I get from the Ibiza cruise port to the city centre?

Take the PortBus, your cruise line's shuttle or a taxi: the ride to Ibiza Town is about 10 to 15 minutes. Taxis wait outside the terminal and usually drop you at the entrance to Dalt Vila or near Hotel Mirador, because cars can't enter the old town. A small harbour boat also crosses to the old town waterfront. Fares aren't published, so ask before you board.

Is Dalt Vila hard to walk around?

Dalt Vila is hilly and the streets are steep, cobbled and uneven, so wear sturdy shoes. The easiest way is to get up by taxi, or to walk up from the harbour front through the Portal de ses Taules gate, and then stroll back down.

Beaches & water

Which beach is closest to the Ibiza cruise port?

Platja de Talamanca is the closest beach to the Ibiza cruise port, a short walk northeast of the Botafoc dock just north of the marina, about half a mile away. It's a sheltered bay. For more sand, Platja de ses Figueretes is just south of town and the long Platja d'en Bossa is about 3 km south, reached by water bus from the main harbour.

Time & tours

What time do cruise ships arrive in Ibiza?

Ports de Balears says cruise ships may enter the port of Ibiza from 11:30 a.m. onwards, with previously authorised exceptions, so most calls start around midday. The calls listed from late October to December 2026 arrive between about 11:00 and 12:30 and leave between 18:30 and 23:00, with no overnight stays. Check your ship's own arrival and all-aboard time before you book anything that starts earlier.

Are there tours from the Ibiza cruise port?

Yes. An e-bike tour meets directly at the cruise terminal, and a 5-hour guided excursion picks you up at the cruise ship port; both are on GetYourGuide. Other tours meet in Ibiza Town, such as a Land Rover 4x4 tour that asks cruise guests to contact the operator first if their schedule doesn't match. The time tiers on this page group them by how long you have.

Can I visit Formentera from the Ibiza cruise port in one day?

Not on a normal cruise call. The Formentera day boats listed on GetYourGuide run 9 to 10 hours, and the full-day trip checks in at the boat on Playa d'en Bossa at 8:30 a.m., while Ports de Balears lets cruise ships enter from 11:30 a.m. onwards. The ferry tickets are sold at the maritime station in the port of Ibiza.

Money & safety

Do I need euros in Ibiza?

Yes, Spain uses the euro, and two recent cruise-port guides say credit cards are widely accepted in Ibiza's shops, restaurants and taxis. We couldn't confirm that US dollars are accepted, so don't count on paying in them; a card covers most of a day ashore.

Is Ibiza safe for cruise passengers?

Spain is rated Level 2, Exercise Increased Caution, by the U.S. State Department (advisory issued July 31, 2026), because of terrorism and unrest, with demonstrations common; it says nothing specific to Ibiza. A 2026 guide's practical warning is about pickpockets in crowded places such as the marina, markets and busy beaches, so keep valuables close and watch your all-aboard time.
