Terminals by cruise line

Cruises from "Tokyo" leave from Yokohama, about 20 miles south of central Tokyo. The port runs three cruise terminals: Osanbashi, Daikoku Pier and Shinko Pier. Your line and ship decide which one is yours, and the choice can change by sailing, so confirm it on your cruise documents. Princess also names a terminal in Tokyo Bay for some sailings, so check yours before you book a hotel.

Hotels the night before

Fly in a day early. Yokohama has no hotel shuttle to the ships that we could confirm, so the best base is a hotel near Osanbashi that you can reach on foot. "Check rates" opens the hotel on Booking.com. "Hotel website" opens its own page. For Daikoku or Shinko, compare hotels by distance below.

Tokyo cruise parking

Only Osanbashi has cruise parking we could confirm. The city runs the lot under the terminal. Cruise passengers get a special rate, but you claim it in person at the terminal's information desk on boarding day. Daikoku Pier offers no overnight parking, so take a taxi there.

The rate is for each 24 hours from entry, tax included, for up to 31 days. The terminal's rate table is dated 2022, so ask at the desk when you arrive.

Quick answers

How we checked these answers

Every answer is built from facts we checked against the sources below and cross-checked with recent port guides. Where sources disagreed, the answer says so instead of guessing a number.

Terminals & cruise lines

Which terminal do Princess, Royal Caribbean and Holland America use for Tokyo cruises?

Cruises from Tokyo leave from Yokohama, which has three cruise terminals: Osanbashi, Daikoku Pier and Shinko Pier. Royal Caribbean's directions name Daikoku Pier, Princess says its ships dock at Osanbashi, and Holland America says it uses all three. Terminals can change by sailing, so check your cruise documents. See the terminals.

What cruise lines sail from Tokyo?

Holland America, Princess and Royal Caribbean all publish Yokohama as a departure port. Princess's Japan cruises loop to ports such as Kobe, Osaka, Kochi and Okinawa, and its Japan and Korea cruise adds Busan and Jeju Island. We couldn't confirm routes for the other two lines. See where ships go.

Is the Tokyo International Cruise Terminal where my cruise leaves from?

Maybe, for some Princess sailings. Princess says its ships dock at Osanbashi in Yokohama or at the Tokyo International Cruise Terminal in Tokyo Bay, and that the port can change after you book. This page covers the three Yokohama terminals, which the Port of Yokohama lists. Your cruise documents name your terminal, so check them before booking a hotel. See the terminals.

Hotels

Which hotels near the Yokohama cruise terminal have a shuttle?

We couldn't confirm a Yokohama hotel with a cruise shuttle or a park-and-cruise package. The one we show is Hotel New Grand, which faces Yamashita Park, and Booking.com puts Osanbashi a 10-minute walk away. It also lists free luggage storage at the bell desk. Heading to Daikoku or Shinko? Use the area search. See the hotels.

Parking

How much does it cost to leave a car at the Yokohama cruise port?

At Osanbashi, cruise passengers pay ¥1000 per 24 hours from entry, for up to 31 days. Standard rates are ¥1500 for 24 hours on weekdays and ¥2000 on weekends and holidays. To get the cruise rate, show your boarding ticket and parking ticket at the terminal's information desk on boarding day. The page's rate table is dated 2022, so ask when you arrive. See parking.

Where do you park for a cruise out of Yokohama?

Osanbashi has the one lot we could confirm: the city's first-floor garage, with room for 400 standard cars, open 24 hours. Cars must be under 2.5 m tall. Daikoku Pier lists only 50 pick-up and drop-off spaces and no overnight parking. Holland America says long-term parking exists at all three terminals but doesn't name a lot. See parking.

Getting there

Which airport is closest to the Yokohama cruise terminal?

Haneda is the closest: 22.2 km to Osanbashi by road, about 25 minutes without traffic, and the port says about 30 minutes by train or Limousine bus. Narita is 98.7 km, about 91 minutes by road, and about 90 minutes by express train or bus. See getting there.

How do I get from the airport to the Yokohama cruise terminal?

Train or Limousine bus is the usual way: about 30 minutes from Haneda and about 90 minutes from Narita to Yokohama. Holland America quotes taxis at roughly ¥12000 from Haneda and ¥70000 from Narita, and says taxis can be hard to find. Princess sells an airport-to-ship transfer for guests who didn't book air with it. See getting there.

How do I get from central Tokyo to the Yokohama cruise terminal?

Yokohama is about 20 miles south of central Tokyo, per Princess, and the port says JR trains from Tokyo Station take about 25 minutes. For Osanbashi, walk about 5 minutes from Nihon-odori Station on the Minatomirai Line. For Shinko Pier, Bashamichi Station is about 10 minutes on foot. See getting there.

How do I get to Daikoku Pier?

Take a taxi. Daikoku Pier has no station, and the port lists about 15 minutes by taxi from Motomachi-Chukagai or JR Shin-Koyasu Station, or about 20 minutes from Haneda. A bus runs from Yokohama Station's East Exit on route 109, but it's infrequent, and the port recommends a taxi. Driving from Narita, Royal Caribbean says to leave the Wangan line at Daikoku JCT. See the terminals.

Embarkation day

What time should I arrive at the Yokohama cruise terminal?

Your cruise line sets your arrival time, and none of the lines' Yokohama pages we checked publish one. Look for it in your cruise documents or the line's app. Allow extra time if you're going to Daikoku Pier, where there is no station and buses run rarely. Osanbashi and Shinko have a limited number of coin-operated lockers, per Holland America. See the terminals.
